Ruri Ohama is a Turkish-Japanese Youtuber, med student, and polyglot. She has a Youtube channel completely in English, which was able to grow from 1,000 to more than 250k subscribers in only 9 months. On her channel, she shares what it’s like to grow up multicultural, interesting cultural tidbits about Japan and Turkey, and also tips on learning English and other languages.
This was such a cool interview with Ruri, and I hope you will take some inspiration for what your English can bring for you if you set your mind to it. We discuss how Ruri learned fluent English and how she has grown her channel to almost 300k subs in less than a year. Ruri recommended some Anime series and YouTube vlogs you can start watching. She shared her opinions on what role grammar should play in learning English or another language. Ruri’s plan to become more productive. How she deals with mistakes and failure. What she has learned growing up with parents from different countries. This is a fascinating one, guys, so I don’t want to wait any longer to get into episode 22 of beyond borders!
