Facebook Weekly Review 21/7/13
21/7/13
Awww yeah… What’s going on peeps? Welcome to the fourth RLE Weekly Review. Let’s see what’s happened in the coolest English learning community in the world!
LET’S BE THANKFUL!
If you’re lucky enough to be in touch with your family, be grateful for it. If you have good friends, a cozy place to live in and a rewarding job, you gotta be thankful for all those things. Thousands of people around the globe struggle with extreme poverty, unemployment and illnesses. So, why do we keep complaining about our lives? If you’re a teenager and have lots of clothes, thank your parents for their daily efforts and duties. However, even if you’re in need of a ‘bountiful harvest’, all you gotta do is be a tough cookie and be thankful for the upcoming opportunities to prove yourself as a successful human being.
I recommend that you visit this page, which provides us with some really wise quotes on being thankful. Also, if you’re into cultural hints, take a look at this site and get to know more about the Thanksgiving Day in the United States.
So, what are the RLE community members grateful for?
“I felt kinda down in the first half of the year, but this second part is fucking kicking ass. Great this are about to happen in the months to come. I’m going to finish this academic year in Peru and I have hopes of going to Brazil in early 2014. I hope you guys knuckle down and we get together awww yeah… For such a favorable turn of events I’m thankful.” (by Max Ahumada)
“I’m certainly grateful to my awesome family for always supporting me and my dreams, even though it often carries me far from them” (by Ethan Zinho)
“I’m thankful for my life. I’m really enjoying it… I think life is a big opportunity to grow up, isn’t it? Throughout life, I met lot people, I did friends, and… every single day I have the chance to do new relations. BTW, I’m grateful for internet… it a big tool that provides us the chance to lifelike live. Can you imagine Real Life Group without web? Thanks God!!! And TKS Real Life Guys, you’re using web for a good reason” (by Adonis Marcos)
Check out this post. What are you thankful for?
ARE YOU AN OPEN-MINDED PERSON?
What if our minds were like a cage? Would you keep it open? What if ideas could fly as birds do? Would you let them take over your cages? If you nodded your head when reading the second and the fourth questions, chances are that you are an open-minded person. Many people tend to refuse to accept new ways of thinking about some themes, mainly those ones that are thought-provoking, such as life outside the Earth and sexuality. Want to make sure that you are open-minded? If so, I invite you to take this test.
What about our RLE members? What do they think about the current topic?
“Most people aren’t as open minded as they think.” (by Trevor ? Pirtle ?)
“I try too, but it’s quite difficult. It can be easy for one and hard to another…” (by Marcelo Augusto)
“I’d like to say I’m a fairly open-minded person, but, like most people, I do have some pretty strong views about specific topics and find it hard to sway from those opinions, no matter how others might try to persuade me. Anyway, I always try to open up my mind to new ideas, maybe to allow myself to the opportunity to change what I think and how I view the world.” (by Adriano Monecchi)
Check out this post if you are an open-minded person.
THE PERSON OF OUR DREAMS…
What do you look for in a man / woman? As for me, my dream girl should be intelligent, outgoing and my best friend. Before writing about this theme, I searched for what attracts men and women most. If you want to prove yourself as a sexy partner, make sure you are bilingual. Furthermore, I recommend that you check out the following articles:

What do the RLE members look for in a man / woman?
“Her beauty and attractiveness as a whole: soul, mind and body in a good balance! No stereotypes followed, no perfectness expected. Just some real, simple person, special on her own way…” (by Lucas MilHouse Coelho)
“Of course, physical appearance is important, but not the most important thing. I look for intelligence, kindness, generosity and sincerity. I have to feel safe with him, and he has to make me laugh!” (by Laura A. Hill)

ADDICTIONS…
According to Psychology Today, addiction stands for the “condition that results when a person ingests a substance (alcohol, cocaine, nicotine) or engages in an activity (gambling) that can be pleasurable but the continued use of which becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary life responsibilities, such as work or relationships, or health.” I’ve already gone through such bad situation. I used to drink too much soda after having lunch or even at school. My parents warned me about how dangerous drinking too much coke could be, so I had to take the bull by the horns in order to avoid ingesting such an awful drink. Honestly, though, I still have an occasional soda, but always in moderation.
What about you? Do you have any kind of addiction?

CHANGE THE WORLD WITH ENGLISH
How does English learning change your point of view concerning the world? What have you achieved through English? As for me, it has been helping me to come up with a renewed conception about other cultures. Besides making friends and learning interesting expressions, changing the world with English is no longer a pipe dream, but a project.
Here goes one of Eric Clapton’s best musical masterpieces ever, Change the World. You can listen to it while checking out this post. Sounds like a plan, huh?
