6 Reasons to Join the Real Life English International Movement

What’s the number one thing you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your English? Seriously, take a moment to think about it……..

The number one response we get here at RLE is something like to create more opportunities to use English in its authentic context. Read that last line again. If that’s not your biggest difficulty, we would love to hear what is in the comments below.

Butwhere can we find these opportunities? Do we need to travel abroad to speak English? Fortunately, with the power of social media, some really incredible opportunities are available for FREE.

One of these is the Real Life English International Movement

What English Learners Really Need

People all around the world have been trying to learn English from books and grammar exercises, but totally neglecting the one thing that makes the process fun and effective. They are missing seeing the language for what it is: a vehicle for meaningful communication.

They are missing being engaged in the authentic language that people use, making friends and contacts, building confidence, and seeing the language as something more than just a set of rules and conjugations. In today’s world of interconnectivity, the best information, from the solutions to our problems, to the best opportunities, tend to demand the proficient use of English.

The problem is that people everywhere are spending their hard earned time and money to learn, but unfortunately just a small portion of them actually reach fluency. Why is this? Because it takes A LOT MORE than just English class and grammar books.

You need to find a way to practice every single day. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. And the more you make it an authentic part of your life, the faster you will learn.

English Speaking Community

The Real Life English International Community is here to provide a space where English can come alive, where it can inspire you, and in the process, change how you look at the world.

In addition to being a blog (which you are reading), we are a free and open online community with thousands of learners and teachers from all over the world (over 50 countries), and with just a click of the mouse, you can join and see what all the excitement is about. It’s absolutely FREE.

We would love to see you on Facebook, Twitter, or on our mailing list.

6 Reasons to Join the Real Life English Movement

1. Have Fun Every Day with Daily English Practice Guided by Native Speakers.

We are 5 native speakers (For Americans and an Australian) who write for this blog and moderate the community (Check out our top blog articles!). We also just started doing a free audio podcast. We teach English in Belo Horizonte, Brazil (this is why we have a lot of Brazilian members). In addition to publishing nearly every day on the blog, we teach our community daily idioms, tips, visual vocabulary, slang expressions, videos, and podcasts, all with real life examples.

We also answer your questions and moderate discussions between members.

We invite RLE members (who we call “Real Lifers”), both teachers and students, to participate in all discussions, polls, games, tips, and offer any cool new media information they come across. Our mission is:

To inspire, connect, and help the world to learn English the fun, easy and real life way.

Our goal is not only to make English fun and engaging, but also to guide our community within a culture of respect, tolerance, and peace. We strive to cultivate a space where people learn MUCH MORE THAN JUST ENGLISH.

2. Connect with thousands of from MORE THAN 50 COUNTRIES. Become a World Citizen!

The RLE community is a microcosm for the world, contemplating international issues that are relevant and important to the world community. We seek to create a space where members of all backgrounds can expand their vision through a multitude of perspectives, cultivating respect and tolerance, and making new friends. This, in our eyes, is to become a world citizen.

3. We are here to ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS

A lot of members bring questions to the table, as we are constantly asking members what they want to learn/know about English. Because our community is full of learners of all levels, including teachers, native and advanced speakers, and people who are passionate about English, it’s always a fertile space for learning opportunities.

4. A Unique and Rich Source International and Native Speaking Information & Entertainment

Because the RLE community has so many native speakers and English teachers and learners who are living in places where English is the native tongue, there’s a constant supply of fresh new viral media, cutting edge information, and conversations centered on pop-culture events.

This comes straight from the source to your computer screen, and it’s in English. If you have something to share with the world, as long as it’s not offensive to our members, we would love for you to share.

5. Constant Access to the Real Life English Blog and All Articles

Real Life English’s blog (the one you are reading right now) has hundreds of articles written with the purpose of educating, inspiring and entertaining your English learning process. We recently gave away/raffled off a FREE month long exchange trip to Canada.

As a member of the community, you will receive constant updates on these articles, as well as promotions, raffles, and special offers (such as free access to our popular new e-book, “101 Words You’ll Never Learn in School.”)

6. If you Live in Brazil, Come to the World-Famous REAL LIFE ENGLISH PARTY

We organize the Real Life English party once a month at different bars in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and use these events to bring together our diverse international community (in Belo Horizonte) that helped us start the online Facebook group. There are usually between 80 and 150 attendees. We have a few beers, hang out and have fun, meet new people, and we organize a simple activity for everybody to get out and meet each other and speak.
